Simple Past

We use simple past when something happened in the past or something that happened before that time.

Positive form:

Subject + V2 + Object
He/She/It lived in New York.
I/We/They/you lived in New York.


Negative form:

Subject + Did NOT + V1 + Object
He/She/It didn't live in New York.
I/We/They/you didn't live in New York.

Questions form:

Did + Subject V1 + Object
Did He/She/It live in New York?.
Did I/We/They/you live in New York?.


Exercise: 

They (speak)  English.

Simple present




We use simple present when the action is happening right now or is very frequent.

Positive form:

Subject + V1 + Object
He/She/It likes coffee .
I/We/They/you like coffee.



Negative form:

Subject + Don't/Doesn't + V + ING + Object
He/She/It doesn't like coffee.
I/We/They/you don't like coffee.

Questions form:

Do/Does + Subject V + ING + Object
Does He/She/It like coffee?
Do I/We/They/you like coffee?

Present Continuous or Present Progressive

We use present continuous when the the action is unfinished or is temporary.

Positive form:

Subject + Auxiliary Verb + Verb + ING + Object
He/She/It is teaching Spanish.
I am teaching Spanish.
We/They/You are teaching Spanish.

Negative form:

Subject + Auxiliary Verb + NOT + Verb + ING + Object
He/She/It is not teaching Spanish.
I am not teaching Spanish.
We/They/You are not teaching Spanish.

Questions form:

Auxiliary Verb + Subject + Verb + ING + Object
Is He/She/It teaching Spanish?+--*9+63
